Our journey to Limehurst High School Loughborough

Starting a school partnership

On 26th September 2010 after a nice weekend in London we went to Loughborough  to meet the head teacher and some teachers of Limehurst High School Loughborough.

This school is one of the schools that is involved in the Comenius project “ A gulp of water, please” The intention of our stay was to discuss and to sign a cooperation agreement for a bilateral school partnership.

The stay at Limehurst was very interesting and impressive. The head teacher Mr. Jonathan Mellor gave us a warm welcome at his school. We talked about education, about schools and lessons and about the planned school partnership.

A key interest we share is that both countries and schools get to know each other and develop a relationship.

The partnership will involve joint working between the two schools, for example exchanging letters or emails and videoconferencing. This will maintain the relationship though the course of the year.

To live, learn and work in Europe means to visit one another and to experience life in other European countries.

At the end of the stay at Limehurst both head teachers signed the agreement and were looking forward to the future cooperation.

During the days in Loughborough we were invited to watch some lessons. It was really impressive to see how the students worked in these lessons. We liked these interesting lessons and it was awesome to watch the students as well as the modern equipping of the rooms.

The use of modern technology in the Chemistry lesson was very motivating for the students.

In form 9 we were in a lesson where German was taught. We answered the students’ questions, talked about our country and about our school.

Beside the school visit we went to Leicester and saw a Sikh Temple and the Indian quarter of the city. It was amazing and a new experience for us to see so many spices, vegetables, fruits and Indian clothes in one place. And it was really delicious to try Indian food!!!

Thank you very much for the hospitality and the nice time we had at Limehurst High School.
